Police in Eldoret and officers from the NCIC have arrested a bloggger who is the second suspect in the ongoing crackdown against those spreading hate speech through social media.

This follows the arrest of a college student who has been charged in court with ethnic contempt. The blogger was arrested in Kitale and will be charged in court.

Five other suspects from Eldoret are being sought over hate speech on social media.

Eldoret West Police boss Samwel Mutunga confirmed the arrest of the blogger.

"We have him in custody and NCIC officers are finalizing investigations then we charge him in court", said Mutunga.

Uasin Gishu County Commisioner Abdi Hassan says they are working with the NCIC to arrest all those involved.

Governor for Uasin Gishu Jackson Mandago says he fully supports the NCIC crackdown on those who want to incite chaos during the polls
