The long-awaited President Uhuru Kenyatta's speech was delivered on Monday afternoon, leaving Kenyans in a celebratory mood.

The head of state extended the national curfew by 60 days. The curfew hours which were previously 9 pm-4 am were extended to 11 pm to 4 am.

Speaking during the national Covid-19 address at KICC, Uhuru, who was wearing a black suit, white shirt and red tie announced that bars will be allowed to operate from Tuesday and closed at 10.

'The prohibition against the operation of bars, and the sale of alcoholic drinks by ordinary restaurants and eateries shall stand vacated from the September 29. Mnaweza kukunywa pombe sasa (you can now drink)' he said.

Schools will remain closed until further notice and the number of people attending a funeral, wedding or any other gathering was increased from 100 t0 200.

Kenyans reacted to President Uhuru's speech on reopening bars and Classic 105's presenter Maina Kageni took to social media to praise him for that.
