Well don't we all say we want to be unique and separated from the word 'common'? Worry no more I gat you!

The next time you go on a date in a Swahili restaurant here is how you will leave your partner impressed! Order using these names for the common dishes we know.

1. Chapati - flat bread

Commonly known as one of the best served dish by the Swahili community we know no other name but Chapati. Well now even with an Italian date you can still have your chapati just call in Flat bread.

2. Ugali - Cornmeal Mush

Staple food for Kenyans is about to be extra! Ugali ni wewe! I call it Cornmeal Mash.

3. Omen - Silver Cyprinid 

The common most readily available type of fish for our western brothers and sisters. But do I say! Omera not Omena but some Silver Cyprinid please and a side of cornmeal mush.

4. Pilau- Spiced Rice

Harusi tunayo hatuna? Always followed by the thought of Pilau ooh sorry, Spiced Pilau.

5. Bhajia - Pakora

A spicy Indian snack that Kenyans have embraced especially as a fast food delicacy. Well now we have a boogie name for it next time we stop at a Swahili restaurant, order Pakora.
