Veteran journalist Waweru Mburu was laid to rest at his Punda Milia farm in Murang'a County today afternoon.

A service was held at Murang’a Teachers Training College where various stakeholders in the media industry hailed the deceased an a fearless man.

Royal Media Services (RMS) Chairman S.K Macharia said that Waweru impacted the society positively and pledged to pay his salary for a whole year to help the family meet their day to day needs.

Vice Chair Gathoni Macharia told mourners that she had suffered a very big loss since the deceased was like a son to her.

Waweru passed away at MP Shah Hospital where he was receiving treatment after a long battle with gastric cancer.

Before his passing, he hosted a program dubbed Yaliyotendeka on Radio Citizen which focused on issues affecting the lives of Kenyans.

His death has dealt a big blow to the media fraternity and the country at large as his show was loved by many.

Kenyans have hailed him as an objective journalist who was never afraid of Mburu was never afraid of criticizing those in power and speaking his mind.

He is survived by wife Bridget Wathira and three children, two sons and one daughter. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
