Kirigo was among the employees who were affected after Royal Media Services (RMS) - the company that owns Citizen TV, Radio Citizen plus a number of vernacular stations - sent its employees packing.

In a memo authored by Group Managing Director Wachira Waruru, the company explained that it had no choice but to re-organize its workforce due to the changes witnessed in the broadcasting industry.

RMS said it would undertake the exercise while adhering to legal provisions and that the affected persons would be provided with support to help them manage the transition.
