A police officer on Wednesday shot dead his wife and their five-year-old daughter after a domestic quarrel.

Cosmas Kipchumba had an argument with his wife before he picked his gun and shot her in the head at the Anti-Stock Theft Unit camp in Subukia, Nakuru.

He then turned the gun on his daughter before escaping.

Police say a manhunt for the officer is ongoing.

Elsewhere, a 45-year-old man was lynched by a mob on allegations he had killed his girlfriend inside a matatu in Buruburu, Nairobi.

The man had quarrelled with the woman in the matatu before he reportedly stabbed her to death.

As he tried to escape from the vehicle, a mob chased and stoned him to death. It is not clear what prompted the quarrel.
