Hand in your gym membership, stow away your trainers and take off those yoga pants because sexercise is the latest trend sweeping bedrooms nationwide.
Instead of waking up to a 6 am alarm for a group training session just roll over to the other side of the bed, wake your partner and get busy – all in the name of burning kilojoules.
Some of the most common sex styles have been found to be the most effective – including missionary, cowgirl and doggy style – but which one comes out on top (literally)?
1. Missionary hip dips – 134 kilojoules in 15 minutes
Clinical sexologist Sunny Rogers told Instyle the world’s most ‘vanilla’ move between the sheets might actually have the potential to burn serious kilojoules in the long run. You just have to mix things up a bit.
Instead of lying flat and still as your partner thrusts, tilt your hips back and up so you’re closer to him.
This engages your core and hip flexors, so you burn more kilojoules while strengthening your abs. Want an added health benefit? Squeeze your kegel muscles as he enters to work out your pelvic floor muscles.
And it’s 20 kilojoules per moan – so don’t forget your sound effects.
2. Get it cowgirl – 263 kilojoules in 15 minutes
Forget what you’ve heard about riding horses, standing up in the saddle is what you should be looking to do if you’re in it for a workout.
Get your partner to lay flat as you lower yourself down on him. If you only use your leg muscles to do the action your glutes and thighs are working overtime to keep you balanced.
Alternatively he can get into a bridge position (below) and get a full body workout all his own, with the biceps, triceps, core and legs toning as he enjoys the view.

Traditionally this move is performed with minimal effort from the woman, but why not switch it up so you’re bumping and grinding against him?

Start in the doggy style position above before getting your partner to hold your legs like a man might hold a wheelbarrow – keep them long and straight.
This move will challenge your arms and lower back muscles. If your partner starts to lose grip help him out by wrapping your legs around his torso. This will only enhance the challenge, and you’ll reap the benefits on your midsection.
5. Holding her up – 209 kilojoules in 15 minutes
This is the kind of move everyone THINKS will be easier to perform than it is – and if you do manage to make it work, it’s normally not for long.
However, the pay-off is huge when you’re trying to burn excess kilojoules, with your partner using their arms, legs, neck and core to stay centred throughout.
