Six people were killed while several others sustained injuries after a car ploughed through a crowd at Bulemia market in Busia County on Sunday, January 31.

Four died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuiries while being rushed to a medical facility.

According to reports, the driver of the saloon car which was heading from Bumala to Butula was drunk at the time of the accident.

Although he managed to escape, angry area residents torched his vehicle while demanding that the government erects speed bumps around that area.

Local police are said to be on his heels and they confirmed that they have his details, so it's only a matter of time before the long arm of the law catches up with him.
