Are Kenyan roads officially the most dangerous in the world?? The amount of lives we lose on a daily basis as a result of road accidents is alarming!!

Earlier today, four people perished while six others were injured after a matatu plying the Rongai-City Centre route overturned on Lang'ata Road in Nairobi.

County police commander said that the matatu driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle. He said that the number of people in the vehicle at the time of the accident was yet to be established.

"It is not clear how many people were in the matatu. Four people sustained serious injuries while two others suffered slight injuries," Koome said.

The police commander said the injured were rushed to hospital.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), a total of 2,190 lives have been lost on Kenyan roads between January 1, 2016 and September 20, 2016. Among these were 817 pedestrians, 373 motor cyclists, 256 drivers, 542 passengers, 148 passengers and 54 pedal cyclists.

The NTSA statistics reflected a 2.6 per cent increase in fatalities as compared to the same period last year.
