Born in London to a Kenyan family & raised in Maryland, King Kanja is one of the biggest Kenyan artists who are doing big abroad.

Others who are also putting Kenya on the map are Wangechi Mutu, Lupita Nyongo, Eddie Gathegi and many others.

King Kanja last night posted a photo of himself hanging out with American actor, producer, and rapper Willard Carroll “Will” Smith, Jr.

The rapper has also featured on BET’s 106 & Park sometime back;

October 4th 2009 was the first time I performed in front of 4 million viewers to vote for a chance for me to achieve my dream on @106andPark w/ hosts @iamterrenceJ and @rocsiDiaz as I became the first african (Kenya) artist to win the ‪#‎WOW‬ (Wild Out Wednesday) original song competition by 76%. As the show has now come to an end on television I would like to thank the head producer of the show on @BET at the time @patcharles_pc who gave me an opportunity to reach my dream and make it my reality as a career to lead into my first meeting at Universal Records with head of Universal Motown Sylvia Rhone & international recording artist @akon ✔ I am forever grateful and hope another shows come to do the same for another generation.
