Top African Artistes Brought Together Again!

NAIROBI, Wednesday 3 September, 2014 – Coca-Cola held an exclusive event at Film Studios on Wednesday night to launch the second season of it’s one of a kind music show “Coke Studio Africa”. This year’s show was recorded before a live audience and promises to deliver even more unique and exciting musical fusions by popular artists from across Africa. Each episode will feature live musical performances as well as a variety of segments including behind the music, artist competitions, challenges and special remixes. The artist lineup for season two includes Flavour Nabania, Omawumi, Waje, Burna Boy, Chidinma, Olamide, Iyanya, Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade and Phyno from Nigeria; Fena Gitu, Rabbit, Victoria Kimani and Jay A from Kenya; Navio, Jackie Chandiru and Lillian Mbabazi from Uganda; Joh Makini, Shaa, Diamond and Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania as well as Mozambique’s very own Neyma, Jose Valdemiro and Marllen. This year, top music producers such as Silvastone from Ghana; Chopstix and Afrologic from Nigera; Kevin Provoke, Kagwe Mungai and Owuor Arunga from Kenya were also brought in to support the production of the music. There is also the introduction of the mysterious Unknown DJ who brings some intrigue to the show. “Music is a universal language and key expression of all emotions including happiness. As the universal Icon of Happiness, we seek to spread joy on the continent through musical fusion and artist collaboration,” said Ahmed Rady, Marketing Director, Coca-Cola Central East & West Africa. “With this in mind, the theme for season two of Coke Studio is AFRICAN COLLABORATIONS, GREAT FUSIONS, highlighting the collaborative spirit inherent in African music. We have brought in some of the continents best musicians, DJ’s, music producers, band and crew so as to create a truly unforgettable experience for our viewers.” Coke Studio will air every Saturday from September 13th on local television stations in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania and Mozambique. In addition to the TV show, fans will be able to access content from the show on the Coke Studio Africa website www.cokestudioafrica.com, as well as watch performances and other behind the scenes footage from the show on the official YouTube channel frica.They can also get updates and join the conversation through the Coke Studio Africa Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Season one of Coke Studio Africa saw 24 artists from 8 countries create over 46 songs. They

included Grammy award winners such as Salif Keita from Mali and King Sunny Ade from Nigeria.

Other popular artists who took part were MI, Waje, Jimmy Jatt and Bez from Nigeria; Octopizzo,

Miss Karun and Just a Band from Kenya; Hip Hop Pantsula, and Tumi from South Africa; Boddhi

Satva from the Central African Republic; Diamond Platinumz and Lady Jaydee from Tanzania;

Joel Sebunjo, Qwela and Lillian Mbabazi from Uganda; and the Culture Music Club from Zanzibar.

Coke Studio has been produced and aired in other regions such as Middle East, Pakistan and

India. In Pakistan, it was especially successful with an estimated 77 million views on YouTube

alone.
