The East African music industry has seen rapid growth over the past ten years. We have seen many come and go but some have managed to stay relevant in the industry despite the stiff competition.

When you compare Kenya to the rest of the East African countries, we still lag behind musically, most of our musicians are still struggling unlike their counterparts from Uganda, Tanzania and even West Africa. Does it mean that our music is poor, or there's lack of creativity in the industry?

Well, below are the East Africa giants Kenyan musicians should emulate.

Jose Chameleone

The music doctor has risen the ranks to become one of the most sought after musician in the region. Many have faded into insignificance, but the Wale Wale hit-maker has managed to stay relevant in the flooded industry.

 Diamond Platnumz

The bongo star has created a name for himself both locally and internationally. is living proof that indeed patience pays, from nowhere to somewhere; the Tanzanian star is making headlines. Upcoming musicians should not be in a hurry to gain fame but emulate Platnumz.

 Eddy Kenzo

The new kid on the block. This lad is giving his counterparts a run for their money. The fast rising celebrity from Uganda has won many awards and recently he won The BET International Viewers Choice award in the just concluded BET Awards in the US.

Ali Kiba

He cannot miss out on this as he is arguably the best bongo artiste. At least for him he sings sense, current affairs, problems people face unlike some of our musicians who always sing nonsensical music.

 Radio And Weasel

The Ugandan duo of Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo and Douglas Mayanja have been so instrumental in the Ugandan entertainment industry. Most of their songs are hitting airwaves; they have millions of fans across the globe with Kenyans leading.Upcoming local musicians including Amos And Josh should look up to such people incase they want to survive n the harsh Kenyan music industry. The Kenyan duo seem to have a promising future and should stick to their music and bring in more creativity.
