As the year comes to an end, we need to do a recap of this year’s trendy men in the Kenyan showbiz and corporate scene. These guys have consistently maintained their style and have even re-invented themselves. You may have seen some of them on last year’s list, but according to a poll I carried out earlier today, Mpasho Readers have had the final word.

Furthermore, the list is better because this year, I did a rigorous fashion course from the Parsons School of Design, New York. Count on me. So here you go:

1. DJ Mo

Whether he’s on TV or in the streets, DJ Mo never disappoints in terms of looking good. He has a trademark casual but decent look that has become part of his brand signature. His typical look is characterized by fitting t-shirts, sneakers and fitting jeans. He sends out his intended message effortlessly and consistently.

2. Mr. Seed

He is a newcomer in this list but the entire same, he has his swag right. I would describe his style as urban with a touch of pop. From time to time, he can be spotted rocking a suit, something he does like a gentleman.

3. The Dapper Brother

He is a singer-style blogger who has been on the fast-rise this year. The Dapper Brother (whose real name is Muriuki Kagiri) is no doubt one of the best dressed Kenyan male public figures this year. He started out blogging in mid 2015 and has quickly gained traction. He won the MIMI Fashion Bloggers Contest this year, beating 98% of the female contestants. That’s dope. Keep it up brother.

4. Bahati

This list cannot be complete without Bahati, not because he is a friend of mine but rather because of what his fans say. Most of his Instagram comments are about his swag and constantly fresh look. He made it to this list for the second time.

5. Sean Andrew

Former President His Excellency Mwai Kibaki’s grandson has become fodder for many gossip blogs in Kenya for his notoriety in style...and influence amongst his age bracket. He is a model -- according to his Instagram bio -- and from his professional photo shoots, you can tell that he has got style. Check out his Instagram to see for yourself.

6. Willy Paul

Despite being controversial and allegedly rude, this boy has his unique way of dressing. Jimmy Gait was one of my considerations but naah...Willy Paul has better swag than him. So here you go, the notorious Willy is one of the best male Kenyan celebrities of 2016.

7. Chintan Thacker

He’s the MD of Vivek Investments, one of the most notable industrial companies in Kenya. Chintan, who’s in his 30s has a distinct way of dressing up for the occasion. He loves smart casual most of the time, something which you expect of a VIP who expects to be taken seriously. You can learn this important lesson from him: how you dress determines the respect you’ll get.

8. DJ Sadic

Having seen him several times while covering red carpet events, I can confirm that the gospel DJ is sure one of the most stylish gentlemen in the Kenyan entertainment industry. His style can simply be described as elegant.

9. King Kaka

King Kaka was the most mentioned in the poll I conducted. The rapper, dad and entrepreneur stresses on looking presentable on every occasion. Whether he is in the streets selling his mixtape or on a national TV show, King Kaka always nails it.

10. Benachi

From his music videos to his travel photos, the “Mwanake” hit maker has proven that his style is undying. His visual style is clear: he is a trendy person with minimalist tendencies. He can rock sick sneakers with a simple jeans and jacket and the overall look will be great.

11. Nick Mutuma

Many of the female Mpasho News fans named him as one of the best, and I agree. Since his breakout into the media, Nick has had girls wanting to have him in their beds not only because of his looks but also because he’s a smart dresser. Whoever his stylist is, the job done is amazing.

12. Larry Madowo

Perhaps he has to look presentable for TV, but the two--timer nominee has a touch of both classy and casual. From time to time, he makes headlines with his happy socks. In fact, I was having a conversation with a new friend last Friday and they told me that big people tend to dress up sharply then surprise others with happy socks. Eternal style, maybe?

13. Martin Kimathi

The TV presenter has been on the low key headline-wise, but he can’t miss out on this list. Just like his buddy Nick Mutuma, he is a stylish dude. Birds of the same feather flock together. You need to pick your friends wisely immediately you finish reading this!

14. Daddy Owen

The gospel star has been maintaining a low profile lately, perhaps to focus on family building? However, what has been notable is that his uniquely different style hasn’t changed and it’s still good. From music videos to media appearances, this guy maintained himself.

15. Eric Omondi

Lastly, we have Eric Omondi who has shown radical change in his style...a departure from his suits on TV. Those ones, he left them to Chipukeezy. He has managed to blend in with what an average Kenyan millennial would expect from a top comedian; versatility in the dress code.
