Kari's Kitchen, one of the vendors of the Sol Saturday concert has spoken out to explain how the cancellations affected her.

Sauti Sol put out an official statement explaining why they were not going to perform at the event.

Kari has explained the process she went over

She was contracted to do catering for the VIP section and she was to prepare food for 500 people. She spends about Ksh 300,000 in preparations for the concert.

Kari says the money was loaned to her to buy stock - meats, ketchup, boxes, mayonnaise, icecream etc - for the food she was going to sell at the VIP section.

"The reason why I'm angry and hurt and in pain is because Saturday all the vendors had to be at the venue by 10 am. at which time there was going to be a bomb sweep. The day before, on Friday, I decided to go and set up so that I can meet the 10 am deadline. I got a pickup and took my freezer to the event. When I go to the event, things were so tense. I did not think anything of it because everyone was under pressure."

After dropping the freezer she went back home to pick the grill but that is when things went haywire. It was 9 pm hours before the event.

She continued,

"I called one of the organisers and that is when he tells me, 'I have bad news.'The event is not happening. I don't think I have ever had a big panic attack like the one I had on Friday. I went to the venue and cried."

Kari says that the reason she was given for the Sauti Sol cancellation was that they claimed the stage was not up to par. She also added that they were "Selfish and arrogant" and they refused to negotiate even after they were paid 30,000 USD (Ksh 3m).
