Sharon's family

The case of Rongo university student Sharon Otieno, who was killed and her body dumped in Kodera forest in Kasipul constituency on Tuesday evening, is serious.

The 26-year-old lady, who was heavily pregnant had been abducted in Rongo town, Migori on Monday night alongside Nation journalist Barack Oduor. The journalist managed to escape by jumping from the speeding car.

Sharon was not too lucky.

As the family seeks justice for their loved one, Sharon Otieno’s friends are mourning her and some of them told the Nation that they are shocked by the news.

They described the late as a bright student, generous and cheerful. One of her friends told Daily Nation:

She was jovial and liked looking at her smartphone, either on social media or texting friends.

She added;

But in three years we have seen her, there were certain things you would not understand. She kept her distance, especially her private life.

Sharon Otieno deferred her studies early this year so as to prepare for her second child. But before then, she was living a great life and made several trips abroad based on what we can see from the photos on her social media accounts.

Sharon’s mother, Mrs Melida Auma Otieno told the Nation that the politician had promised to give her the best life.

I remember how, in the early stages of her pregnancy, I asked her to tell us who was responsible for it and she told me it was Governor Obado. At one time she even said he had promised to buy her a house and take care of her pregnancy and, later, the baby.
