Tibim Kitu Gani! Babu Owino Forced To Re-take Oath After Mentioning The Name Of Raila Odinga

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili aka Babu Owino was forced to retake his oath after mentioning the name of NASA leader Raila Odinga during the exercise.

Clerk of the National Assembly Michael Sialai who was presiding over the process at the floor of the House had to ask the new lawmaker to drop Odinga’s name since he was not part of the inscribed oath.

Owino headed to the request and repeated the correct words written in the oath.

“I, Babu Owino, having been elected a Member of Parliament do swear in the name of Almighty God that I would bear true faith and allegiance to the people of the Republic of Kenya and Raila Odinga that I will obey, respect, uphold, preserve, protect and defend this Constitution of the Republic of Kenya and that I would faithfully and conscientiously discharge the duties of the Member of Parliament, so help me God. Thank you. Tibim!” said Owino.

Some of the new entrants in the 12th Parliament seemed excited as they twisted their voices differently while majestically taking their oath.

Sialai advised the members to shun deviating from reading the exert words written in the oath to avoid repetition and waste of time.

Jubilee enjoys numerical advantage in the National Assembly with 177 MPs, while NASA and its affiliates have a combined 123 MPs – these include nominated and those from friendlier parties.

In Senate, Jubilee has 36 legislators, while NASA has 31.
