Football is one of the most supported sports in Kenya. With millions of fans across the country, local footballers enjoy the great support. Just like Europe where WAGs (Wives And girlfriends of players) are a phenomenon, so it is back home.

Ladies in Kenya treat players for the two giant clubs AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia and probably Tusker FC as kings. Some even forgo meals just to see the men of their dreams play.

Stadiums are always packed with beautiful ladies both old and young, some with jerseys emblazoned with names of their favorite players. there have been instances where these women change their social media accounts names to those of specific players.

Foreign players; from various parts of Africa are highly targeted for such adoration by the "stadium beauties" especially when playing for either Gor or AFC. No one bothers with players from smaller teams like Muhoroni, KCB, City Stars and others. They target the "weak" ones.

The latest transfer window saw Kenyan Premier League teams sign new talent both locally and internationally to boost their squads. This move was warmly welcomed especially by female fans who could not hide their joy at the inclusion of new beaus in the league. Facebook posts by ladies praising and even "booking" the new signings before even the league started became commonplace.

Although many of these foreign players are married back in their respective mother countries, once they interact with these Kenyan ladies, everything changes, suddenly they become single and ready to mingle forgetting about their wives and families. A good example is a popular footballer from west Africa who plays for one of the top two teams. The talented defender was signed from a small team in the KPL but moments after his club announced through their website that he was officially part of their team, his lifestyle changed. From social to personal life; the lad is now living large and this is evident from his Facebook account.

Whenever he shares a photo or updates his status on Facebook, ladies will always flood his page just to like and comment. And for this, he is always generous and kind, he will make sure he replies to everyone by tagging their names. But wait, is this what we call branding?
