A few months ago, former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo's daughter, Sally Jirongo and her American boyfriend, were accosted by gun-toting thugs in Nairobi’s Kilimani area. For the first time, she narrated to KTN's Jicho Pevu’s expose aired on Monday, about how the criminals shot dead Cameron Huntler.

Sally said that her and Cameron were on their way to get breakfast in a nearby mall when three men confronted them. The three attempted to rob her of her handbag, but the boyfriend resisted. The thugs shot him once in the arm, then in in the head after his resistance to let go the bag, killing him instantly. The incident happened along Kilimani Road.

Following the airing of the expose, Sally's dad has aired his concerns about the brutality that continue to be meted on innocent Kenyans on hands of criminals.

"To all those who have mailed and text messages of condolences and encouragement to me and my family after watching the frightening events surrounding Jacob Juma's death and the aftermath as narrated by @Mohamed Ali aka Official Jicho Pevu with Mohammed Ali, i thank you so much. Even in moments of despair there is always a ray of light that makes you thank God and say "What golden friends I have".

But lets remember, even if for a second, there are those - and they are many - who have and continue to suffer more pain away from the glare of the media. It is not the concern of any one tribe. The victims of the "official" violence are from every corner of Kenya, rich and poor, young and old, famous and unknown.

Whenever any Kenyan's life is taken by another Kenyan unnecessarily - whether it is done in the name of the law or in the defiance of law, only a fool or evil person would condone it even if one ignorantly believes that someone's death serves a political, tribal or economic interest. It stains the whole nation and makes it harder for us to condemn evil.

In the words of the late Robert Kennedy when the era of assassinations threatened the stability of the US,

"....whenever we tear at the fabric of life which another man has painfully and clumsily woven for himself and his children, the whole nation is degraded.

"But we can perhaps remember - even if only for a time - that those who live with us are our brothers, that they share with us the same short movement of life, that they seek - as we do - nothing but the chance to live out their lives in purpose and happiness, winning what satisfaction and fulfillment they can"

So while i thank you for your messages and compassion for what befell Mr Cameron Chase Huntley and my daughter, I ask you to not only say a prayer for the family of Jacob Juma, Willie Kimani and the other victims of Syokimau murders, and tens of others whose lives were snuffed out prematurely, but take a stand.

Let us know that one shares in the evil too when you look away or honor the swagger and chest thumping of the cowardly wielders of force, who are willing to go to any length to achieve a political or monetary gain on the shattered dreams and graves of others." -cYRUS jIRONGO.
