Nairobi is a place of opportunities, but it has also been invaded by crooks, who roam the city night and day.

Funny enough there are people who have never been to Nairobi.

For those who live or work in Nairobi, you understand why it's called Nairoberry.

Here are things that welcome you to the city

1- Being sold a phone that is filled with mud

Ever been so excited at getting a new phone only for you to find out that the phone is filled with mud?

2- Having your phone snatched in traffic

That has happened to a lot of us, sadly most of these thieves are never caught as they wait for when the jam is bumper to bumper.

3- Buying and paying for stuff only to find leaves and torn clothes packed for you.

This majorly happened when buying stuff from fleece markets such as Gikomba or the notorious Githurai, but now people have become wiser to these tricks.

4-Trolley pushers running away with your stuff

This can make a person go mad for a minute.

imagine buying goods worth thousands only for an unknown person you have hired to help you transport them, escapes with them.

These people (beba beba) take advantage of the fact that one is afraid of being hit by oncoming cars.

So they disappear in between the cars and leave you empty-handed.

5-Hawkers running away with your change

We àll know how convincing Nairobi hawkers can be, but some are also cunning.

They will utilize every opportunity to run away with your cash in the pretence that the city council askaris are running after them.

So be careful, always have loose cash when going to buy things from hawkers, especially hawa wa nguo.

What's that one thing that has ever happened to you in the streets of Nairobi that you won't forget?
