Today morning, January 10, 2021, a Pollmans Tours & Safaris bus that was heading from South Coast, Diani to Mombasa plunged into the Indian Ocean at Likoni.

The bus slid off the ramp owing to rains and plunged into the ocean.

It was attempting to board the MV Safari ferry.

"I tried to break but the bus kept on slidding," the driver Salim Omar said.

There were no injuries to the driver and his turnboy.

"We have been raised in Mombasa it was easy for us to get out of the ocean," he said.

KPA, Kenya Navy and volunteers helped pull the bus out.

A statement from Mohammed Hersi, Pollmans Tours & Safaris' Group Director Of Operations read in part,

"We did not have any passengers on board having dropped them in Diani previous evening. Both driver and his helper were rescued and safe."

Adding,

"The bus was secured and currently salvage exercise is going on. We would like to thank Kenya ferry services , Kenya coast guard and numerous members of the public who all came to help. As a leading tour company safety remains our top most priority and we are grateful that there were no fatalities."
