The search for Miriam Kigenda's body and that of her daughter have not been successful after their car sunk at the Likoni Ferry on Sunday evening.

The 35-year-old Mariam and her daughter Amanda Mutheu met their tragic death after their car sank in the Indian ocean at the Likoni Ferry channel and more than 24 hours later, their bodies and the car haven’t been recovered.

One female diver told the media that the main challenge they are having is the cold weather considering it's raining.

The current is very high. When it gets cold the water gets very cold and it can be challenging.

Let us try and see what we can do. We have done this severally and we pray to God that they are found.

Another male diver identified as Martin Mabinda added,

'I have 11 year experience in diving, the challenge is that the water has turned dark and this means that it will be hard to see while under water. The ferry was supposed to be stopped but that has not happened.'

The search is still ongoing to the disappointment of many Kenyans.
