Having attended the launch of Windows 10 at Arboretum Nairobi Back in July, and met Satya Nadella, Microsoft international's CEO among other luminaries and CEOs in the industry, I learnt a number of lessons worth sharing. The latest version of #Windows10 is for sure meant to #UpgradeYourWorld.

1. Kenya is the biggest technological hub in Africa

As we all know, Kenya is host to Microsoft and other tech company offices. Microsoft is investing in the future of the Kenyan youth through the 4Afrika program which offers internships, educational devices and other opportunities for Kenyan youth. The recent Global Entrepreneurship Summit that saw globally acclaimed entrepreneurs - like Daymond John - attend, is an example of how Kenya is a booming center for economic growth and development.

2. Windows is the best productivity O.S. on the planet

Windows enables families, corporations, governments, churches and other users achieve their day to day goals. Whether it is communication via Skpe, doing homework and much more, it has existed for decades and keeps getting better. Have you tried the latest, Windows 10 O.S.?

3. Microsoft's innovation is human-centered

The Windows powered PCs have changed lives over the years. Since Bill Gates and team launched Windows on November 20th 1985, the company has endeavored to fine tune it to be the best O.S. in the world. The latest version - Windows 10 - has seen tremendous improvements. It brings you an attractive user interphase, which includes Cortana. It is an excellent personal assistant that makes your life easier. You just need to say a command - e.g. Call Momanyi and it gets done for you!

“It is built for this era of personal computing. If one thing is gonna be true in the years to come, we’re gonna have more computing with us. We’re gonna have sensors, PCs, tablets. holographic computing…and Windows 10 is built for all the devices in our lives,” he said during the launch.

As if that's not enough, Microsoft is running the #UpgradeYourWorld contest in search of a not-for-profit organization that is upgrading the world. This could be in any field...whether education, health or youth empowerment. Each organization receives $50,000 to fund their operations and impact their societies more.

The countries being covered include Kenya, Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States. The winning organizations must impact people in their respective country through technology. To vote for your favorite NGO, just go to the official . Some of the NGOs that have been selected include Homeboyz, I Chose Life - Africa and Computers For Schools - Kenya.
