Very few parents would want to hear that their child wants to become a DJ when they group up. There are some people who even think that DJs are drug addicts and faliures in life. It's not considered as a serious proffesion.

But wait, DJ'ing is actually one of the highest paying careers in the world. American business magazine; Forbes, last year listed former grocery store stocker, Calvin Harris as the higest paid DJ in the world, earning $66 million.

Kenyan DJs make serious money too. Actually even more than some CEOs of top companies in the country.

Below is a list of some of the highest paid DJs in Kenya in no particular order. (this is according to the least amount they charge per show and the number of events they have in a week)

1. DJ Creme - Creme Dela Creme says that his charges vary, but for a club gig, the least amount he can take is Ksh60,000. Creme has at least 3 gigs in a week, so in a month he makes at least Ksh720,000.

2. DJ Mo - To get the top gospel DJ to hold it down at your event, you will have to part with at least Ksh60,000. But for him it also depends on the kind of event and the company.

3. DJ Juan - The popular reggae DJ charges at least Ksh50,000 to spin at an event. Juan has at least 2 gigs in a week, in a month that would be Ksh400,000 on the lower end.

4. DJ Stevo Junior - The roots master charges $1,000 (96,000) for a set. He says that's the reason most of his gigs are always abroad because very few local event organizers and clubs are willing to pay that sum of money.

5. DJ Bonez - Mombasa's top DJ charges at least Ksh.40,000 for a gig, but you will also have to cater for his other expenses, and it also depends on where the event is, and how long he will have to play for.
