Born in Iringa, Tanzania, Rehema Chalamila popularly known for her stage name Ray C has been been a subject of a controversy off late since she bleached her skin and gained weight. The queen of Bongo flava, R&B and Taarab was once a drug addict and sold all her belongings, a house, car and even boutique that she had worked hard to get.

Ray C was taken to a rehabilitation centre and after successfully recovering from her drug addiction, she decided give back to the society by educating youths across Tanzania so as not to fall into the same trap.
