Citizen TV's Willis Raburu is one of the most popular public figures in Kenya. He comes from a well-off family. Despite all that, he had to make a tough decision at some point in his life, unlike many young people who relax and wait to inherit.

He lied to his dad about the course he was taking.

“My dad originally wanted me to study IT. I did not have any interest in the field since I wanted to be in media all through. So when I enrolled for higher education, I lied to him I was studying IT for over three-and-a-half years," the news anchor revealed in an interview with Citizen.

Willis would later reveal that he followed his passion to his dad, much to his disappointment. Peter Raburu, a renowned government worker (former PC) is now proud of his son's 7-year-strong media career.

When in high school, he did not let his family's position in the society get over him.

“I never wanted to be associated with the name Raburu because my dad was a PC. I did not want to get favours or anything. I wanted to get my own identity,” Raburu recalled

The Chemilil Academy alumni is now at the top of his game, and going harder on his media career.
