As other matatus take several minutes to fill up, Rongai's Phantom 808, also known as Rustic, charges more than other matatus but travellers still struggle for sitting space in the newly launched public service vehicle.

The Phantom 808, which was launched last week, has sparked a lot of reaction from avid matatu culture aficionados who can't stop praising the impressive piece of art.

In January, the National Transport and Safety Authority launched a crackdown on matatus with 'offensive' graffiti, noisy modified exhausts, horns and sound systems. The move was challenged by matatu owners and Kenyans who love the art.
