A domestic row between a couple over Sh100 ended on a sour note after the wife took her life using a rope in Mithuri estate in Naivasha.
The 24-year-old mother of one got incensed and went for the rope after the husband accused her of mismanaging the funds meant for the family’s meal.
During the Thursday morning incident, the woman and her one year old child left their house in a huff after the quarrel only for the body to be found hanging from the tree.
According to Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru, initial investigations indicated that the couple had in the past quarreled over several issues including how the woman was using the money.
“The husband claims that the woman left after the quarrel and committed suicide from a nearby tree leaving the minor under the tree,” he said.
This incidence comes barely two weeks after a man has killed his one and a half year old son, before hanging himself at Kilala Location, Makueni Sub-county.
According to the Sub-county Police Commander, Timothy Maina, the assailant, John Muia, aged 29, grabbed his son, Justus Muuo, by the leg and smashed him on the ground, Saturday at around 4pm.
“THE MAN REPORTEDLY GOT AGITATED AFTER A QUARREL WITH HIS WIFE, PURITY MUTHEU, 21, AND HE ASSAULTED THE CHILD, SERIOUSLY INJURING HIM,” SAID MAINA.
The Police Commander said the child was rushed to the Makueni County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Muia, who worked as a farm hand later on hanged himself on a tree using a Leso in his employer’s farm in the locality.
