A man has been arrested after a three year old boy he had assaulted died at a Nairobi hospital five days after the incident. 

Master Emanuel Muriithi succumbed to his injuries at the Nairobi West Hospital on Wednesday following the assault incident that happened in their Muthangari home on March 16.

The Star reports that the police say the step father identified as Anthony Kariuki Kamau, 26 was arrested and would be charged in court with various offences.

The child’s mother had arrived home late from work on March 16 and was informed of the assault.

The child had apparently sustained serious injuries, which forced her to rush him to Avenue Nursing Home in Parklands the following day. He was transferred to Nairobi West Hospital where he died.
