A University of Nairobi lecturer has been arrested after she was found living with the dead and decomposing body of her son in her apartment in South B.

Hannah Khahugani was a new tenant at Kifaru Front Apartments.

According to police, Khahugani was living together with her dead son before the flat caretaker alerted them of a foul smell emanating from her house.

Neigbours claim, she has been staying with the dead son in the house for at least two weeks.

"Teachers tried to call Khahugani because they were worried about the boy who was to prepare for exams but she never took calls from the school," a neighbour said.

The same neighbour called Mary revealed that she would do chores like wash the boys clothes daily, but it got to a point where she stopped.

"She had been washing and hanging clothes belonging to the boy for the past two weeks but one day she stopped the chores."

The neighbour also pointed out suspicious behaviour that made them call the police.

"After two or three days, she did not leave the house nor did the son leave the house. By then we became suspicious."
