Former South African president and polygamist Jacob Zuma is preparing to add to his family by marrying a fifth wife.

The fiancee, Nonkanyiso Conco is now a radio DJ and has a radio station called Vuma FM.

The radio's programmes manager Patrick Bogats said he didn't know who Conco was when he employed her.

The fiancee says she isn't afraid of critics.

The 76-year-old's last wedding was with Gloria Bongekile Ngema.

The polygamist statesman, who is believed to have fathered more than 20 children, wed his long-standing first wife Sizakele Khumalo, 69, in 1973.

He married Nompumelelo Ntuli, 37, in 2008 and wed third wife Thobeka Madiba, 39, in 2010.

The five-times married man has previously wed two other women.

He divorced from South African cabinet minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma in 1999 and another wife, Kate Mantsho-Zuma, committed suicide in 2000.

Mr Zuma, who spent time as a political prisoner under South Africa's apartheid regime, is also believed to have dated a string of other women.

The polygamist leader faced controversy two years ago after it emerged that he had fathered a love child with the daughter of one his close friends.

The president responded to media coverage of the affair by announcing he would rather take multiple wives than commit adultery.
