The family of slain Meru University student leader Evans Njoroge aka Kidero is yet to come to terms with his untimely death.

Kidero was shot dead in cold blood by the police a few days ago in Meru.

The student leader who was in his final year and was set to graduate in a few months time was to celebrate his 23rd birthday next week but unfortunately, he didn't live to see these important days.

He was the only boy in a family of seven and in an interview with the Standard, Peter Njoroge Gathuri, Kidero's father described him as a bright child.

"The family had a lot of hope in him, especially since he is my only son in a family of seven. Despite being the fourth born, everyone thought he would uplift the family's standards. His star shone bright and we predicted a bright future for him," Gathuri said.

According to sources, the investigations are going on and Meru County Police Commander Nelson Taliti has assured the family that justice will prevail.

"We are sorry for what happened. It is not our wish to have the life of a youth ended by a bullet. What l can say that whoever will be found culpable will be prosecuted even if he is one of us since he is a criminal like any other,”said Taliti.
