Africans from all walks of nature have eulogized the singer as a great man, hardworking, jovial and creative. Below are some of the tributes;

shepherdbushiri: I have learnt with extreme sadness of the passing of one of Africa’s greatest sons, Oliver Mtukudzi in Harare, Zimbabwe today.

For decades, and across several generations, Tuku inspired many, comforted many more others, and spoke truth through music. He is a legend, who will always rank among the greatest of all time. Through Oliver, we have learnt that music transcends language, that music goes beyond race and ethnicity.

I would like to send my condolences to the Mtukudzi family their friends, the people of Zimbabwe, Africa and all music lovers. Go well son of the soil. Rest in power!
