Ruth Matete has had a rough 2020, this is after her husband, Beloved John Apewajoye succumbed to burn injuries on April 11.
His body was detained at the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary as investigations were ongoing on the nature of his death.
The late was involved in a gas cylinder fire accident that saw him get over 60% body burns.
Investigations by DCI and enquiries by the Nigerian Embassy delayed the burial.
But on July 23, 2020, Ruth was given a go-ahead to bury her husband at the Langata Cemetery.
From the moment Beloved John’s demise was made public, various nefarious tales were span casting Ruth in a bad light.
Her dad, Abel Amunga, gave a moving speech about forgiving all those who wronged his daughter during her time of mourning.
“KNOW THAT WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND THIS [DEATH] IS A MERRY GO ROUND SO DON’T SEE YOURSELF WAKING UP IN THE MORNING AND THINKING YOU ARE SECURE AS YOU PRACTICE YOUR PROFESSION BE VERY CAREFUL WITH IT BECAUSE GOD GAVE IT TO YOU HE CAN TAKE IT AWAY FROM YOU ANY TIME.”
Speaking out for the first time after the burial, Ruth took to her social media platform where she wrote,
“Thank you so much for your support. Finances, prayers, calls, messages and any other way you stood with us. May you never lack. And may God send help your way when you need it.”
“The Pay bill number link has now been officially closed, but if you still wish to send your support for baby Toluwa and I, you can use Mpesa on my number 0706206840. Please keep lifting baby Toluwa and I in prayers for the journey ahead. I believe in my heart that if God allowed me to get to it, He will get me through it. So many unanswered questions, but I press towards the mark of the high calling.”
“My eyes remain fixed on the one who gives and takes away. Again, thank you so much and God bless you richly. Regards, Pastor Ruth Matete Apewajoye.”Matete is expecting a baby boy.”
