It takes forty days to catch a thief, a popular saying goes and I could not agree more.

After stealing from unsuspecting bank customers for many months, it was the end of the road for a notorious female thief who has been plying her trade in Ruiru town.

The woman, presumably in her 30s, was caught after stealing Sh5,000 from a lady's bag at KCB Ruiru as the owner filled a deposit slip oblivious of what was happening.

She is believed to be part of a cartel of three women that go around stealing from banks and restaurants. The other two were lucky to get away as they were already outside the bank.

After being caught in the act, the suspect was forced to hung a placard that read 'I AM A THIEF - MIMI NI MWIZI' around her neck.

As if the humiliation that she got was not enough, the bank manager reportedly took her around banks in Ruiru to warn customers and other managers about the thriving cartel.

The woman in question was later arrested and taken to Ruiru Police Station where she spent the night.
