A royal media journalist is nursing wounds on his face and head after he was physically attacked on Monday evening by one of Governor Kennneth Lusaka's bodyguards.

Emmanuel Namisi Cheptai a journalist based in Bungoma was physically assaulted at a members club in Bungoma town by Kisaka Mufutu a former KDF officer and other guards who works at Lusaka's security team.

The incident happened at around 5;00 PM when Namisi who was in the company of a colleague who works at K24 television Moses Masinde went to the joint to have a soda before proceeding home after daily duties.

Speaking to The Star's Brian Ojamaa at Bungoma police station after reporting the matter Namisi said that Kisaka confronted him and asked him why he aired a bad story accusing one of Lusaka's body guards of killing Kadogo a woman who sells groceries in the town.

Kadogo was killed by a stray bullet last week on Friday when Governor Lusaka supporters clashed with those of Ford Kenya candidate Wycliffe Wangamati.

Ken Kisa a guard of deputy governor Hillary Chongwony was later on arrested in connection to the killing by flying squad police who are still investigating the matter.

Namisi said that Kisaka slapped him hard on the face, kicked him in the head before raining blows on him while accusing him of often writing and airing bad stories about his boss.

''You have really been on our necks and we are tired of you you aired a story on wheelbarrow and we left you go Scot free this one we will not we are going to handle you perpendicular,'' said kisaka.

Namisia recorded a statement at Bungoma police station and went to get treatment at Bungoma referral hospital where he picked the p3 form.

He was accompanied by his lawyer Amos Makokha who condemn the incident and asked police to arrest the guard.

''We can not have our scribes who are doing the watch dog roles and pointing out the ills in Lusaka's regime being threatened with murder and some being beaten"

Speaking to The Star on phone Lusaka said that it was quite unfortunate that his guards behaved that way.

''I was told about the incident and felt very bad i don't condone physical violence , i don't know what exactly provoked that and i have cautioned all my stuff against such behavior."

The governor said that he has reprimanded the guard.
