These past few weeks have seen female artistes make a music comeback and it’s interesting to see what they have to offer.
- Sheila Mwanyigha
Sheila entered the music industry more than a decade ago with her song ‘Niwe wako Milele’.
She then went on a music hiatus, focused on being a TV host and she is now back to her first love, music.
Her latest jam is called ‘Pole Pole’
‘When I saw your body double bagged, ready to be sealed, I broke down,’ Dr Adisa’s close friend mourns
2. Linda Muthama
Linda, a former Tusker Project Fame participant is back like she never left.
She is now singing gospel songs after going through turbulent times in life. She had been a secular artiste but now her songs are gospel.
3. Amina Abdi
The sassy radio cum TV host said the reason she had quit music was because of the high corruption rate in the industry.
Watching artistes give something small to have their music played did not work for her.
‘There was lack of support and then it was very difficult to get started. They say there is a certain video type of quality that can be played on air.
A good quality video, how much is it? By that time when I was releasing Paint Town Red I was told 300k and I´m making sijui 15k.’
‘It was the bribing you had to do and because I was on radio and no one was paying me to play any of the music. I didn’t expect that.
It really caught me by surprise.’
Do you think these ladies will make it through the industry with their music?
