Kenyans are shocked at the extent of cyberbullying that is present in out society today.

Jimmy Gait went on National TV and shed tears narrating how the brutal vice hurt him.

Now, it hasn't taken long for the cyberbullying to claim it's first victim, Brenda Akinyi Maone Waru.

Brenda committed suicide near the Kabete Police Station on the night of Friday May 12 by throwing herself on oncoming traffic on Waiyaki Way.

She also wanted to take the life of her precious daughter but the quick thinking of the nanny saved the little angel's life.

Brenda's decision to end her life stems from a series of frustrating life incidences that saw her little one defiled and not getting any justice from the police. Infact one of the law men she went to for help, took advantage of her.

When she went online to seek for help, she was mocked and ridiculed. Even after her death.

Her story has shocked many into silence. I just hope that people will learn from this and stop cyber bullying.

One of Brenda's school mates in high school feels remorseful, she feel like she may have failed Brenda somehow. Read her moving tribute.

The lady called Patricia Mabil Mutinda wrote, "This is a tribute to a friend that i have lost suddenly and painfully..a friend that i do not have a right to mourn because i lost touch with her, a friend that i loved and cared for deeply...a friend that made me part of her family and became mine..she was a genius..she had 8 straight A'S as in KNEC was spoilt for choice on which of the two sciences to pick and was many times our maths and chemistry teacher."

Patricia continued, "She had a beautiful spirit and loved laughing...her sarcasm was on another level..ask Alphans..her family was a happy and joyful one..i'd visit them and spend my entire day with them, she Kalela and i played pranks on her brother Edgar, she had a tweng to her name Waru.

i last spoke to her when she lost her sister and she told me she was hurt that i didn't invite her for my wedding which was unintentional and we made peace with that by parting ways and i respected that..God places people in our lives for times and seasons and i guess ours ended then..but why does it hurt now that you are no more, why does it break my heart? May God forgive me if i failed you...Go well BRENDA AKINYI WARU #theBrendayouneverknew

Here are some more tributes sourced from Facebook.

Edith Kabuthi: I remember the prank we played together. That I will never forget. And she and you were the master minds ??? I remember Brenda as a sweet happy girl. God takes his best; you are his best. You are now an angel to your little princess.

Linda Kabogo: #TheBrendaYouNeverKnew I feel so heart broken and guilty! I was not so good with keeping friends because I had my reservations on who came to my inner circle, which apparently was always empty! I could talk to Brenda and we connected on another level no Alphan would imagine! She never judged nor kept grudges! Ever smiling and always ready to listen even to the weirdest of characters! I have read of cyber bullying and sometimes even took part in it! You have taught me to just reach out to those shouting for help in form of weird updates and posts on Facebook! Rest in peace sister and forgive me for my never keeping in touch!

Kate Kemboi: Really heartbroken to hear this, like many of us here, I have the fondest memories of you, Brenda. Sorry we lost touch after high school and didn't know how much you had to go through. Rest In Peace with the angels. My deepest of condolences to your loved ones.

Ed Bochaberi Omare: I met her in Nakuru in 2013. We had fun that night, she was laughing as we danced the night away. I was heartbroken and she laughed at me so hard that I started laughing at myself too. She encouraged me, talked to me seriously and pulled me out of my seat and we danced some more. Brenda changed her line later and we didn't get to communicate after that.

#TheBrendaYouNeverKnew was a vibrant lady, full of life and love. I'm sorry for not realizing that you were in pain. All I have now is memories of her. Treasured memories. Rest in peace Brenda Akinyi.

Ludy Keino: Gone too soon, our last meeting was in Nakuru for revision of courses. I remember her laughter, the way she used to enjoy me because of my english thanks to her I really improved and also for the moments she asked me to remember to go with her for the evening rosary prayers....Rest in peace Brenda. #TheBrendaYouNeverKnew.

Ed Bochaberi Omare: I remember that day Ludy Keino. I went to their home in Shabaab for lunch and she saw me off in the evening. I still have the jacket she bought me that day. It's old now, I'll keep treasuring it.

Sue Mukami: Oh Brenda Waru..my no.1 fan,she used to tell me that..I regret I didn't do much to continue the friendship...May u rest in peace dear one.
