Drama ensued at the burial of the late Bon Aggrey Okello popularly known as Bokelo in Kano Kisumu County yesterday when rowdy Gor Mahia fans disrupted the burial. The "hooligans" took away the coffin carrying Bokelo's body, saying that the Inspekta Mwala's actor was supposed to be given a heroic send off after the much-anticipated match between Sony Sugar and Gor Mahia.

The crowd was uncontrollable, leaving mourners including Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o and the family of the late running for their safety. The rowdy fans carried the coffin shoulder high and marched with it around the school compound where the ceremony was held chanting Luo words Jowi! Jowi! (meaning bull).

Attempts to stop the Gor Mahia fans fell on deaf ears. They accused the mourners of hijacking the ceremony without their involvement. After long pleas, the Gor Mahia fans then allowed the family to bury Bokelo at 3pm in his home then proceeded to Kisumu to watch their game.

Bokelo passed on early last month while undergoing treatment at the Matter Hospital. Story courtesy of
