Motivational speaker Sam West says it's high time young people understand who they are to avoid doing ratchet things on social media.

This was based on the recent exposure by 19-year-old Shakilla who went live on Instagram to expose men she has slept with.

Speaking during an interview with the father of two said,

‘Shakilla is suffering from an identity crisis.

She does not understand who she is, that she is born authentic.

When as an individual you don’t understand your identity you start copy-pasting what other people are doing.

What is happening is that young girls are copying what they have seen others do.

We have a thirsty generation; they are so keen on numbers that they will do anything. To get followers you have to be a leader.

You cannot crave followers yet you don’t know where you are leading them to.

A true leader does not look for followers it’s them who look for him or her.

Sam further added,

‘People lack the element that you might have followers but you are not a true leader.

True leadership is the capacity to influence people through inspiration and not through manipulation.

Manipulation is when you try creating scandals around other people. Even musicians are keener on followers than on inspiring people.'

'Unfortunately, people will not follow you blindly. I tell celebs that no one owns the public.

If you keep showing them that all you want to do is play games, what they will do is they will leave and you will get depressed.

This is because you are used to being told nice things, having your photos liked. You will be surprised.'

It’s time people start being real.
