Ann Mwangi Mvurya is the new leader of Students of University Nairobi (SONU).

Ms Mwangi, was recently voted as the chairlady of Sonu, and her victory was heroic as she's the first female student to be elected to lead the student body..

Branded Miss Beauty and Brains, many are hoping that Anne Mwangi will bring back sanity to the university. Taking to social media, she thanked comrades for believing in her and message read:

Good morning majestic comrades of The University of Nairobi,I take this opportunity to congratulate all the victorious comrades line-ups from all the twelve UoN Campuses across the country. Indeed your tireless efforts to represent us has been a remarkable journey worth celebrating.To be honest No one has lost elections,we learn as we soldier on,There is always another time. As we package ourselves for council elections, I look forward working with all of you for the benefit of all students and to restore our pride as an institution .

Once again congratulations to all our elected Leaders.

Other notables who've been student leaders at the University of Nairobi include Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and the late OCS Rangira.

In her tribute to Rangira, Ann wrote:

It breaks my heart that you had to go in that cruel murder and even more, having your young family in mind.

Your demise leaves a deep void in students' activism and leadership and we remain weeping and sad.

Your planned murder won't go in vain, justice must be served.
