Serial killer arrested, confesses to gory details of hacking women and children

Police in Nyandarua West has arrested a 33-year old man linked to a series of murders targeting women and children in the area.

Investigators said Simon Ngige, has been on the run since last year and has confessed to participating in two murder incidents.

According to Nyandarua West Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) Wanyama Nyongesa, after he was arrested in Naivasha town, the suspect admitted to having killed Ms Eunice Muthoni Ndung’u and her 5-year old daughter Linet Njeri on April 23, last year back hacking them with a machete.

The police boss said that the suspect in his statements have said that he accessed the house where the two and other children were sleeping in their Chekaleri village home, Ol Joro Orok by digging a tunnel through the wall of their mud house.

The 30-year-old woman and her daughter who was a grade one pupil succumbed to head injuries inflicted by the suspect while undergoing treatment at the Nyahururu County Referral hospital.

The SCPC added that the suspect further confessed to have killed Alice Wanjiru, 23 on March 25, last year in a similar manner at Gatumbiro village in Ol Joro Orok constituency.

Police data indicates that about nine people, most of them women, were murdered in the area in a span of six months in 2020.

Mr Nyongesa has said that they were investigating possibilities of the suspect having been involved in the other murders since they were executed using the same style.

He said that the suspect is expected to be taken to court to face murder charges.
