Boniface Mwangi is one guy who has fought the government hard.

He was first introduced to us as a social activist. Many Kenyans were upset with him because he often spoke out about the worst in their favourite leaders.

An activist is a person who campaigns for some kind of social change. Someone who's actively involved in a protest of a political or social cause.

Demonstrations, strikes and sit-ins are all ways that an activist might work toward the change he or she believes in. Boniface Mwangi has been very vocal fighting for the rights of Kenyans by taking peaceful protest to the streets.

Despite the peaceful protests, he has been beaten and even threatened but he has never given up the fight.

The last protest he engaged in was one that saw him face charges in court. Remember when he took pigs outside parliament calling MP's 'mpigs'. Together with his team, they painted the pigs the names of various greedy legislators in red.

The 'mpigs' case saw him in the Supreme Court yesterday challenging the constitutionality of the charges against him and his team.

Tomorrow I turn 35, instead of celebrations, i shall be in court for being on the right side of history.

Our (Kenya’s) hope for a renewed leadership quickly disappeared after the 2013 election. Two months after new Members of Parliament were sworn in, their first action was to award themselves a hefty pay rise, making them some of the highest paid in the world. We decided to paint pigs with the names of the greedy legislators who were leading the push for higher pay. The message for the day was greedy Mpigs occupy the bloody Parliament. On May 14, 2013, we delivered the pigs to parliament.

We provoked an uprising against the collective greed of MPs. Although police used teargas and water cannons to disperse us, the pigs did not move an inch.

17 of us were beaten, arrested and arraigned in court on criminal charges. We moved to court to challenge the constitutionality of the charges. In August 2014 a high court judge ruled, dismissing the constitutional reference case, essentially holding that our fundamental rights were not violated.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 10th July at 9:00 am at the Supreme Court in Nairobi our case will be heard by a bench led by Chief Justice David Maraga.

Kindly join us at the supreme court in solidarity.

Boniface Mwangi turning 35 gives him the chance to finally vie for presidency. He ran against Jaguar and Steve Mbogo for the MP's seat in Starehe constituency but lost to Jaguar who won the seat under the Jubilee party.

Do not be shocked if Boniface vies for the presidency come 2022 as he has courage in the boatloads.
