2013 world 5000m silver medallist and two-time junior 3000m champion Mercy Cherono is officially hitched. Sorry gentlemen!

Cherono - who is often referred to as the hottest female athlete in the country - got formally engaged to a gentleman by the name Edmond Ng'etich on December 19.

The lovebirds formalized their union in a lavish traditional ceremony that was held in Kipajit village, Chemagel constituency in Bomet County.

In attendance at her koito, as the ceremony is reffered to among the Kipsigis people, were various athletes including Janeth Jepkosgei, Eunice Suma and Pauline Korikwiang.

2016 is definitely a year the groom - Edmond - will remember for the rest of his life. Earlier in the year, in August to be precise, the lad won Sh10.5 million after placing a sports bet.

The hotelier bagged the whopping amount after he correctly predicted the outcomes of 13 matches on one of Kenya's betting websites.
