During the Valentine's week, Kenyan singer Avril posted a photo indicating that one of her loved ones had been admitted to the intensive care unit. She however didn't disclose who it was, but now it's clear it was her dad, who sadly passed away yesterday March 22nd.

According to a statement from her label company Kaka Empire, singer Avril’s father Mr. Mwangi passed away on Tuesday, 22nd March 2016 at 2 pm.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of singer Avril’s father.   Mr Mwangi passed away on Tuesday, 22nd March 2016 at 2pm.

Mr Mwangi was a dear father and husband who was loved by all and he will be dearly missed.

The family asks that their privacy be respected during this trying time as they try come to terms with what has happened.
