Rwanda's President Paul Kagame has finally made true his promise to a Kenyan girl by the name of Wendy Waeni.

The 11-year-old acrobat caught the eye of President Kagame after putting up a stellar performance during the 2014 Jamuhuri Day celebrations.

Shortly after the function, Waeni reprtedly met Kagame and got an invite to perform at Rwanda's State House.

Although she did not hear from the Rwandan Head of State for almost two years, the young girl did not give up on her dream of visiting the country.

A few weeks ago, she took to Twitter to politely remind Kagame of the promise he made to her in 2014.

"Hey President Paul Kagame Still waiting for my invite to Rwanda as you promised sir, First Lady Rwanda and Eugene Anangwe," Waeni wrote.

It is then that the ball started rolling, with Kagame instructing Eugene Anangwe - a KTN correspondent based in Rwanda - to ensure the young girl visits the country.

They say good things take time, I agree.

On September 9th, 2016, Waeni and her family embarked on a trip to Rwanda and the little girl could not contain her excitement.

“I have waited this day for 2yrs and it's finally here, starting my Rwanda's visit today hosted by President Paul Kagame,” she posted.

While in Rwanda, she got to hang out with President Kagame at State House and even presented him with a portrait drawn by Kenyan pencil artist Fiona.
