The Rugby fraternity has lost yet another player Tony Onyango Opondo.

The KCB player, who featured for Kenya Sevens during the 2014/2015 season collapsed and died at his home in Ngong on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.

Tony Onyango played for Kenya Simbas from April for six years. He then moved to Impala, Strathmore, Homeboyz and was currently playing for KCB.

According to sources, he collapsed and died on the spot.

The player has left behind a wife and son.

Our journey goes back to primary school, can't remember whether was a class or 2 ahead of you. Then reunited with rugby after high school. One thing that stood out from our last conversation was your changing view of how to support the game and Simba's by extension. During the trials last year you passed at the chance of joining the team as you were categorical that you needed to manage your load and rest, noting that you were stretched in 2018 into 2019. A very noble and honest opinion not what you hear from your modern day player. Leaving the conversation with I will be back to support the journey to France whether as a player or otherwise.

Then you'd show up once in a while to support the young KCB cubs Kimwele & Co at training stating indeed they were the today & tomorrow (you believed in them), we'd chat about sports marketing, player branding, growth of players on and off the pitch, raising the brands of our players something you hoped for the next generation. We talked about Decathlon where you worked then and how you could support the Simba's. Progressive talk.

Shine on your way brother, now our guardian angel. Connect the energies for us, link the systems for us. Thank you the memories in that Simba's Jersey, I was a big fan, made it look so easy and sweet. RIP brother #Simba.
