Zinzi Mandela, the youngest daughter to former South African President Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela died yesterday aged 59
She succumed at the Johannesburg hospital and the cause of her death has not been disclosed.
She was the South African ambassador to Denmark.
Zindzi, who was also known as Zindziswa was the younger sister of Zenani Mnadela. Zindzi has left behind four children, including Zoleka, Zondw, Bambatha and Zwelabo.
She grew up at the height of the anti-apartheid struggle with her father imprisoned on Robben Island. Zindzi Mandela was the family member who read out Nelson Mandela’s rejection of then-president PW Botha’s offer for conditional release from prison at a public meeting in February 1985.
