Ridiculous: This Is The One Place In Kenya Where Even The President Is Not Allowed To Access

There's that one exceptional place where the President of Kenya has been allegedly denied access to.

Amina Mohamed, the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary has voiced her concern on how British Army officers in Kenya have been resisting inspection of what they ship into the country.

She says that this poses a serious security threat as the officers in charge are in the dark as far as what the British import. The CS was addressing the Senate Committee on Defense and Foreign Relations recently.

"We cannot continue like that. Even as we talk they have facilities in the country, that no one, not even the President or the Chief of the Defence Forces can access. That should not be happening 50 years after our independence," the CS said.

"How can it be that they can bring in anything and not allow it to be subjected to any inspection," she wondered.

The Standard reports that the soldiers who are operating under the British Army Training Unit once shipped in many containers to the port of Mombasa but were not willing to let local officials inspect them. They opted to return the containers when Kenyan officials insisted on an inspection.

"They had resisted the inspection, but when we stood our ground and insisted on inspecting them, they opted to take them back. The question we are also asking ourselves is what is this they were bringing in and did not want our authorities to know?," Mohamed added.

The CS now wants the issue urgently looked into and the practice stopped. The President has previously speculated to end the British - Kenyan partnership because of - among other factors - misconduct by the soldiers. Currently any soldier caught committing a criminal offense will be prosecuted here and and not sent back home for justice as done previously.
