Former Candy and Candy CEO, city millionaire Joe Jariuki, has found himself in unfamiliar waters after allegedly falling prey to a team of fraudsters. Kariuki claims to be the victim of a well crafted con game. He alleges that he bought a Range Rover car from a city dealer about a year ago only to have it repossessed by another company leaving him at a loss.

The company (Mwananchi) that took over the car on the other hand claims that whoever had sold it to Kariuki, a man by the name Richard, had taken a loan from them and the company was therefore seeking to recover the amount by repossessing the vehicle.

On further investigation, Kariuki claims to have discovered that both the man who sold the car to him and the company that took the car could be in cahoots to defraud him. He says that he reported the matter to the Embakasi police station where further investigations revealed that the same vehicle had been sold to at least four different buyers while still in his custody.

No arrests have been made yet.

We reached out to Ann and Njuguna, representatives of Mwananchi company which is said to have taken Kariuki's car from his home, for comment. A very rude Njuguna simply hang up the phone while Ann said she was not authorized to speak to the media.
