Nadia Mukami, sultry-voiced singer and hitmaker is carving her territory on the Kenyan and potential African music scene once more by debuting the video to her latest song - Kolo - and managing to pull the strings to feature renowned singer Otile Brown.

The 3 minutes 33-second video is produced by Sevens Creative Hub and directed by Hanscana. The song will serve as the 1st track off her upcoming album.

The song takes on an Afro-Centric keynote, specifically exploiting Swahili culture undertones, herein, you can hear subtle Kayamba like sounds.

The aesthetic taps the aforementioned culture with alluring female and shirtless male video models draped in traditional Ankara wraparounds ornamented with patterns.

The singer’s outfits change across the video but remain gaudy and colourful as she dons a flowing customary white dress and long hair which brushes the floor.

The props; costumes, a white backdrop and plants pan out well to add context to the video.

The song samples from esteemed 90’s Kenyan band Them Mushrooms with its hook; “kolo kolola kolo” and chorus; “embe dodo tazama yangu embedodo...”.

Nadia and Otile shroud their lyrics in a metaphorical structure which slightly reveal sexual connotation.

The song is simple and easy on the ears, aptly deviating from the structure of contemporary Kenyan bongo music, making it distinctive.

And yes, it’s worthwhile.
